Detection & Evasion

What is network segmentation?

Network segmentation divides a network into isolated zones so that a compromise in one area cannot freely spread to others. It is one of the most effective controls for limiting ransomware’s lateral movement and blast radius.

Segmenting backup networks specifically helps protect recovery copies. Even so, the surviving copies must be verified clean — which is the role deep file inspection plays.
