What is backup destruction?
Backup destruction is the deliberate deletion or corruption of backups by attackers to eliminate a victim’s ability to recover without paying. It is a standard step in modern ransomware operations, frequently executed using compromised backup-administrator credentials.
Immutable and air-gapped backups defend against destruction, but the surviving copies must also be clean. Elastio verifies that the recovery points you have left are actually recoverable.
