What is triple extortion?
Triple extortion adds a third layer of pressure on top of encryption and data-leak threats — for example, launching denial-of-service attacks or directly contacting a victim’s customers, partners, or regulators.
These tactics aim to force payment even when backups are recoverable. Removing the encryption-side leverage with provable clean recovery limits, though it cannot fully eliminate, the attacker’s options.
