Backups & Data Resilience

What does backup integrity validation check?

Backup integrity validation checks whether recovery data is trustworthy before it is needed. At a minimum, it should confirm that the backup exists, can be accessed, can be restored, and has not been corrupted, encrypted, tampered with, or contaminated by malware.

For ransomware recovery, job status is not enough. The important evidence is whether the recovery point has been inspected and confirmed clean at the data level.
