How It Works (High-Level Architecture)

1. Commvault Commserv server executes scheduled or on-demand backup jobs as usual.
2. Elastio Worker VM (or cluster) connects to Commvault via its native APIs, inventories backup jobs, and mounts the relevant recovery point. It supports Copy Precedence by selecting a copy precedence value in the policy.
3. Elastio runs its behavioural ransomware engines on the mounted data, looking for signs of encryption, malware, and tampering.
4. Detailed threat results and forensics are sent to the Elastio console and your SIEM: a backup set is marked as either Clean/Recovery-Ready or High-Risk/Review Required.
5. Your SOC, IR, or DR team acts on the alerts and optionally initiates a restore from a validated clean recovery point for fast and clean recovery. Elastio provides Threat Hunt capabilities, detailed ransomware intelligence, and access to our expert incident response team for forensics.
