The customer partnered with JetSweep and Elastio to enhance its Amazon Web Services (AWS) disaster recovery with proactive ransomware scanning and layered security.

The Challenge

JetSweep began working with the customer in 2020, supporting the deployment of AWS solutions across the enterprise. As the client expanded its use of AWS technologies, the company sought to strengthen its disaster recovery and data protection strategy — proactively enhancing cyber resilience and ensuring reliable, proven recovery. 

While its existing AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS) setup provided automated replication and recovery, the customer recognized the growing threat of hidden ransomware attacks targeting backup data. Traditional backup solutions often miss hidden compromises or encryption, leaving recovery points unreliable when they’re needed most.

The Solution

JetSweep partnered with the customer to implement a comprehensive disaster recovery and data protection strategy. Leveraging AWS DRS, JetSweep manages the environment to ensure seamless replication and failover between primary and secondary AWS regions.

To enhance security, JetSweep introduced Elastio for Ransomware Recovery. 
Elastio continuously scans the client’s backup snapshots for ransomware encryption, malware, and corruption, without impacting production environments. This out-of-band scanning ensures any recovery point is verified clean and reliable, giving the client confidence that its data is secure and validated for restore if needed.

The solution also strengthened operational resilience, ensuring minimal downtime and fast recovery in the event of a disruption.

Plus, the implementation process was smooth and efficient: the client, already utilizing AWS, had the DR system in place, and, in partnership with Elastio, JetSweep installed the ransomware scanning add-on. 

Within hours, the solution was operational, providing automated monitoring, alerts, and additional security oversight.
